President and Founder - Globalia Logistics Network
The year 2021 marked the 5th Anniversary of Globalia Logistics Network. We would also like to take this opportunity to extend our appreciation for being with us right from day one! Globalia has come a long way in the last 5 years thanks to the efforts and perseverence of our members. On this occasion we would like to sum up the things we have successfully accomplished since our foundation
Globalia was launched with 52 member companies in 74 cities across 56 countries. Since then, we welcomed several new members who have joined our network to boost their brand, find new partners and obtain new business opportunities. Presently, we count on members in 178 cities across 124 countries in the world. Some of our members have been with us since the day one. We would like to show our appreciation to them and encourage them to keep putting their trust on the network.
Paul Petrovski, the Managing Director of PCFS, Globalia founding member in Sydney, Australia, aptly sums up his experience with our network in the last 5 years-
"We have developed a number of strong business relationships over these years and Globalia has helped PCFS connect with several agents that we probably would never have come across if not for the network. We developed a strong business relationship through the conferences over the years. I would recommend Globalia to any agent out there looking for a great team. The most rewarding aspect of becoming a Globalia member has been the great partnerships and friendships we have made which have helped to grow our business."
Maria Julia Giancola, Manager of the Logistic Department of Customs International Service, Globalia founding member in Buenos Aires, sums up her experience with us in the following words,
"The reason we became a member of Globalia was to gain worldwide recognition and provide our customers with the possibility of importing all over the world, we can now confidently state that now we have done it… thanks to the excellent communications within the network!."
Since 2017, Globalia has been organizing an Annual Meeting where members from all over the world
get together under one roof to talk business and promote their enterprises. Even in the last two years,
when a physical Conference was impossible because of the pandemic, we rose to the occasion and
arranged for a virtual convention instead. Globalia’s 1st and 2nd Virtual Meetings were conducted over
a bespoke meeting platform that made for a seamless remote networking experience and allowed the
agents to connect and communicate without compromising on their safety.
In all these years, we have achieved a great many things since our inception. Since then, we have
organized several Annual Meetings providing our members with the opportunity to do efficient
networking and collaborate on international projects with their network partners.
"It was really great meeting the whole crew. I had a great time in Bangkok and will hopefully do some good business."Nancy Abualy, Globalia member in Chicago, USA. 1ST ANNUAL MEETING - BANGKOK 2017
"It’s great working in a network like Globalia, since it allows us to expand our business worldwide and provide our clients with quotes quickly no matter the location of the shipments."Harry Green, Globalia member in Southampton, UK. 2ND ANNUAL MEETING - KUALA LUMPUR 2018
"Globalia Meetings are very important to know who you are dealing with and start a real win-win relationship."Luiz Gustavo Avesani, Globalia member in Sao Paulo and Itajai, Brazil. 3RD ANNUAL MEETING - ABU DHABI 2019
"We have talked to lots of experienced people within the group and their suggestions will really help to make this group stronger. We would like to know more about FreightViewer’s agreement with Shipco since it seems interesting and useful. Good efforts made by the Globalia team and the quality of the event was good."Gunesh D. Bhimpure, Globalia member in Pune, India. 1ST VIRTUAL MEETING - 2020
"Everything was perfect. I love and respect all of you for your hard work. Globalia Logistics Network’s Virtual Meeting is a great platform for improving your work and increasing your business activities."Tasawar Ahmad Chaudhry, Globalia member in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 2ND VIRTUAL MEETING - 2021
Back in 2018 Antonio Torres, our President and Founder, realized the importance of Logistics 4.0. He took into consideration the up and coming technologies that were setting the trends in the transportation and logistics industry. After months of brainstorming and substantial private investments, Globalia launched its member-exclusive Transport Management Software, FreightViewer.
Globalia remodelled its website to create a more user-friendly version of same with uncluttered design and better functionality. Apart from enhancing the viewing experience, the new website could be readjusted for viewing on phones and tablets. Additionaaly, Globalia’s team has also improved its members area to provide our agents with a better experience.
In 2020, a Blog section was added to Globalia’s website where we have been posting interesting articles that allow members to keep tabs on the latest goings-on in this sector. In this section members also get to read useful tips and interesting posts which are going to expand your knowledge about the industry, get you acquainted with different views, and help you gain exposure to the latest supply chain news.
From our very early days we have been coordinating a social media campaign to increase the visibility of both our agents and our network. We regularly publish the links to all our news about our member’s chievements along with a brief introduction on our social media handles on Facebook, and Twitter. Thanks to the efforts of our marketing team, we have reached 853 followers on Facebook! We are sure that this number will keep increasing in the coming days. Furthermore, our YouTube page has garnered more than 3000 views which is a considerable feat for our team!
Globalia’s reinforced marketing department is implementing SEO tactics to help increase the visibility of our members. Every week we publish the news about the achievements of our members that are SEO optimised for better ranking on Google.
We would never have made it this far without your support, effort and encouragement. Globalia would like to thank all of you for being a part of our network and for adding value to our team.
In this interview we talk about the distinguishing features of their company, their several accreditation, and the range of services they are offering. Additionally, Mr. Andaloussi also talks about the ongoing problems faced by forwarders and about the need for digitization in the freight forwarding sector.
The new addition to DHL’s fleet has been made to cope with the increasing demand for air freight services before the peak holiday season German logistics multinational DHL has expanded its intercontinental fleet by acquiring nine converted freighters from Boeing just before the Christmas holiday season. This is by far the company’s largest single order for converted freighters. Apart from increasing the air freight capacity, these freighters will also allow DHL to manage its freight operations in a costeffective and environmentally sustainable way.
To quote David Calhoun, the CEO of Boeing, “With limited belly cargo capacity on passenger airlines, more dedicated freighters are being utilized to transport cargo…This is resulting in healthy demand for our freighter offerings with 24 additional freighter planes ordered in the 3’rd quarter and strong demand for Boeing converted freighters.”
The increasing demand for air freight space has prompted several shipping companies including DHL to expand their existing fleet. CMA CGM has also recently acquired four A350F planes for moving freight. Boeing has predicted that the international freight fleet will expand by 70% in the next two decades. Logistics multinationals all around the world are doing this in response to the rising demand for space fuelled by e-commerce and the grounding of passenger planes.
The logistics hub that sprawls over an area of 130,000 sqm will give the much-needed push to the African transportation and logistics industry. Hence, all their supply chain operations starting from first to last-mile will henceforth be centrally controlled from one office
The use of logistics software company Wise Tech Global’s CargoWise is allowing them to provide end-to-end visibility of their cargo in real-time
As per Flexport’s latest market update, the strong international demand for commodities has led to tightened capacity that will last until the Chinese New Year in February
These battery-powered ships will not depend on conventional diesel engines and are therefore expected to be more environmentally sustainable
This fulfilment centre will make use of robots, and AI platforms to send orders to the clients within a day of placing an order
The ports play one of the most important parts in global trade by connecting goods with the
exporters and importers. They form an integral component of international supply chain
operations and have now transformed themselves into an entire ecosystem.
Smart ports are the ones that make use of technologies like AI, Big Data, IoT, and Blockchain to
bolster their performance. The need to become ‘smart’ has become all the more pronounced
these days with the changing needs of the modern supply chain- the sizes of the ships are
increasing, the volume of cargoes is getting bigger, and shippers want their goods to move
faster. In a situation like this, the smart ports have become essential infrastructure for smooth
international trade.
With a globalized economy, things need to be moved faster; therefore, embracing the age-old processes is no longer an option- it has become imperative for staying relevant and competitive in the industry. Moreover, the competition between ports is increasing by the day; therefore, adopting new technologies makes the ports more attractive.
PORT OF QUEBEC
The Port of Quebec is yet another example of smart port that is
putting the city as well as its inhabitants at the core of its digitization
endeavours. This is because they have allotted 20% of the port
territory to recreational activities and tourism.
PORT OF ROTTERDAM
This port probably started the most ambitious digitization project ever
made in the history of ports. One of the oldest and longest ports on
the planet, the Port of Rotterdam is digitalizing every aspect of their
port including the port containers. They are making use of the Digital
Twin technology to this end.
PORT OF BARCELONA
The Port of Barcelona is taking a major step in decarbonization by
using renewable energies and new kinds of fuel. Additionally, they
have also implemented a ‘smart grid’ that allows for better energy
management.
Some of the other international ports that are in the process of becoming ‘smart’ include the Port of Hamburg, the Port of Los Angeles, and the Port of Montreal.
Smart ports are the next big step in the maritime industry. These ports are way more efficient and are the ports of the future. They not only focus on technological innovations but also promote sustainability, and take into account, the residents, the community, and the environment.
The growth of our network in the past few years has been astounding. Although we
have 192 cities already covered, we still have enough room for more agents!
