Freight Forwarders are ready to deal with the challenge posed by automation

Logistics which was so far considered to be one of the slowest segments in terms of technological innovations is finally waking up to the advantages which technology has to offer.

Technological innovations are proliferating like never before in the logistics world threatening to alter the conventional freight forwarding process. Starting from online load boards, connected containers, online processing and cloud based freight marketplaces, the recent advancement in technology has somewhat jeopardized the future of the freight forwarding industry.

However, there is not much reason to be concerned since the logistics industry is transforming at a lightning speed with shippers, warehouse operators and carriers coming up with new technologies which would irrevocably change the way business was conducted before. Therefore the only option for independent freight forwarders is to adapt to the new changes so as to survive and grow in an increasingly competitive environment. Freight forwarders has nothing to fear from automation and are expected to remain undaunted till technology offers an unparalleled level of client servicing.

Shippers have placed their trust on freight forwarders for decades not just because of their ability to move a shipment from point X to point Y but rather because of the fact that only forwarders can be trusted to do the job exceptionally well. This is precisely why the freight forwarding industry is expected to remain unperturbed by the threats posed by automation.

Glb Taipei delivers an extremely fragile taichi sculpture

Globalia Taipei establishes itself as a first-rate artwork deliverer after successfully transporting a Taichi sculpture

Apollo Logistics has recently transferred a 2.5 meters high Taichi Sculpture from Beijing to Taipei. The 2.5 meter high sculpture was made entirely out of glass fibre making it an extremely fragile item to deliver.

The Taichi Sculpture which was exhibited at the Beijing University during the 2008 Olympiade was sent as a gift to the National Taiwan Normal University in May, this year. In the words of Richard Yeh, Globalia Taipei’s General Manager “Proper positioning of the sculpture was one of the major challenges we faced in this case. Being a highly fragile artwork it demanded totally accurate, safe and efficient handling which our team has accomplished with perfection.”

Here’s to Apollo Logistics for their brilliant feat!

Globalia member in Panama, General Cargo SA has come up with a new warehouse facility and distribution centre in the Colon Free Zone- considered to be the number one Duty-Free Trade Zone in America. Their clients will now be able to distribute their items from this duty-free zone at a cost-effective rate all over Central, North and South America and the Caribbean.

Some of the perks of choosing Panama as a distribution centre are the road connectivity to Central America, the locational advantage of the Panama Canal with weekly frequencies to overseas destination and of course it’s close proximity to the main air hub which is just 50 Km away from the warehouse. This has enabled them to offer an efficient service for cross-docking on LCL, turn around FCL´s, transshipments for FCL and LCL cargo, plus an integrated distribution/shipping services.

Mr. Pedro Chaluja, the Director of General Cargo states that “Presently one of our main customers is a leading industrial electrical manufacturer for whom we are administrating and distributing. We are also working with one of the world’s leading manufacturers of lift and escalators for whom we are handling the Metro Linea 2 Panama City Logistics.”

Here’s to General Cargo for their extraordinary accomplishments

Globalia Dubai manages project valued in $3.5 billion

The project consists of the extension of 14km of Dubai Metro and is expected to be completed by January 2020

air freight and logistics services

Cargotrans Global Forwarding, Globalia Dubai, is now working on a red line Dubai metro project, in cooperation with Acciona, Gulermak and Alstom, which is worth a whopping $3.5 billion. The project which is expected to be completed by January 2020 consists of a 14 km extension of the Dubai Metro Red Line which would involve the construction of both subterranean as well as suspended bridges.

The project started last July when Cargotrans Global Forwarding delivered 46 containers from Europe to Jebel Ali, a port town around 35 Km from Dubai. In order to handle this shipment, they had used dry container, flat rack, open top or as break bulk with container dimensions ranging from 40 HC, 20 FR, 40FR, 40 OT or 40 Platform.

Additionally, they employed HL, MAERSK, CGM and CMA carriers depending on the transit time and availability of equipment and offered a lashing and securing service, as they do in most of the cargoes.

“One of our major challenges is the timely delivery of the material, and prevention of any unforeseen delay such as vessel transhipment, booking rolled over and the likes. Last July we had to manage the packing of 55 T of cargoes and had to transport it by air from Italy to Dubai within just 4 days so as to receive the entire cargo within 6 days after the pickup from the supplier” states Alexis Danelian, Cargotrans Global Forwarding manager.

Three cheers for Cargotrans Global for landing up with this high profile project.

Currently the network has coverage in 130 cities, whose members together employ around 4,300 people.

international logistics

GLOBALIA Logistics Network, the exclusive network of the highest calibre freight forwarders, was launched just over 8 months ago and has already reached a membership coverage of 101 countries.

“We are very proud of this significant upsurge, since the network only began operations last December. This fact is even more impressive when you consider that for every 100 applications we receive, just 10 are accepted. This is because all our members need to pass our very tough selection process, including an audit by third party auditor DUN & BRADSTREET before acceptance.” said Antonio Torres, Manager of GLOBALIA Logistics Network.

Currently the network has coverage in 130 cities, whose members collectively employ around 4,300 people. “Our predictions are very optimistic for the coming year, we are expecting to grow at the same rate in order to extend our coverage worldwide”. Antonio Torres continues.

GLOBALIA Logistics Network has already scheduled its 2nd Annual Meeting for the 9th to 11th May 2018 in Bali, Indonesia. ”We believe that the Annual Meeting we organise every year is the best benefit of membership. It is the perfect platform for members to promote their businesses internationally, do deals and establish long-term partnerships”, Antonio Torres added.
